Subject: Re-opening of the ARC
Date: Thursday, April 30, 2020 11:53:06 AM

During the month of May, many businesses throughout Arizona are
preparing to open their doors and resume operations. The Ahwatukee
Recreation Center is also taking steps to welcome members back into our
facility.

As stated by the Center for Disease Control, the people most at risk for
the coronavirus are “elderly individuals, individuals with serious
underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung
disease, obesity, asthma, and those whose immune system is
compromised.” The ARC is aware that this definition defines most of our
population and therefore, we must exhibit the upmost care when
reopening our doors.

Our hope is to resume some operations as soon as feasible. The actual
date the ARC opens is subject to the decisions made by the State of
Arizona concerning the date establishments can resume business and
those of our Board of Directors.

Our goal is to protect the health of our members and staff while offering
valuable services to our members. As a result, the following steps will be
taken:
o Reduced hours to allow time for cleaning and sanitizing the facility.
o During this phase of operation, the ARC hours of operations are: Monday
to Saturday 7 AM to 7 PM and Sunday 9 AM to 7 PM.
o Restrict the activities at the ARC to outdoor sports: Pickleball,
o Horseshoes, Lawn Bowling, Outdoor Bocce, Outdoor Pool, and Indoor
o Pool with the garage doors open. All other activities are suspended.
o Reduced number of people at the facility: maximum 10 on the Pickleball
o Courts, maximum 10 at the Outdoor Pool area, maximum 10 on the ARC
grounds for Bocce, lawn bowling and Horseshoes and maximum 4 at the
     Indoor Pool area.
o For the safety of our members and staff, no guests, visitors or children
      are allowed at the ARC.
o Amenities with common touch surfaces such as the library, puzzle corner,
popcorn, ice from the ice machine and coffee bar are suspended.
o Members are encouraged to wear masks for their own personal
protection. Gloves and masks will be made available to the members for
their use while at the ARC.
o While at the ARC, members will need to continue social distancing by
staying at least 6 feet apart from each other.

Thank you for your patience as we work to provide a safe facility for our
members to enjoy. I look forward to seeing you at the ARC.
