******* NOTICE *******

Message from the ARC Board of Directors:

First, I would like to express my concern and the Board’s about all of you in our ARC neighborhoods. We know many of you are extremely anxious about the COVID-19 virus. Others are ready to get out and get busy with their lives. We, on the Board, are trying to make decisions that are in everyone’s best interests. We are trying to take the middle path while following State and Federal guidelines.

Please see the details in Amy's Message below.
We ask that you are respectful of others who will be coming to the ARC for the outdoor activities. Please wear a face covering as you walk past the front desk. They see many people in a day...not just you. I, too, am ready for some “normal” activities, but it will take a while to open all clubs and social activities. We are trying very hard to keep everyone healthy and active. We are doing our best. We care about you!

Lois Bryan, ARC Board of Directors President

Message from the General Manager:

I have been working with the Board and the staff to plan for our re-opening. We have developed a three phase approach that enables the Ahwatukee Recreation Center to open its doors while following both Federal and State of Arizona guidelines. Next week, the ARC is scheduled to begin Phase One of its re-opening plan as described below.

The Ahwatukee Recreation Center will open for outdoor sports on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Our hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. At this time, the services available to our members will be limited to:

  • Outdoor Pool
  • Indoor Pool (with roll-up doors fully open)
  • Pickleball Courts
  • Outdoor Bocci Courts
  • Horseshoes
  • Lawn Bowling

As we work to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the State of Arizona and the Center for Disease Control, the ARC is enacting the following measures:

  • Indoor and Outdoor Pools
    • Use of the indoor pool and surrounding area will be limited to four (4) members at any one time, for a maximum of one hour per day per individual.
    • Use of the outdoor pool and surrounding area will be limited to ten (10) members at any one time, for a maximum of one hour per day per individual.
    • To ensure availability of pool space, members are required to make apool reservation by calling the ARC Front Desk at (480) 893-2549. Availability to use the pools is not guaranteed without a prior reservation.
    • The ARC will not provide pool floatation devices including aqua dumb bells and pool noodles.
    • Members are asked to respect the one (1) hour time limit for pool usage. The maintenance staff will sanitize the pool furniture, rails, door handles, etc. on an hourly basis. Exiting the pool area after the hour reservation has expired allows the staff to safely complete their cleaning protocol in a timely manner.
    • All existing pool rules detailed in the ARC Rules and Regulations will remain in effect.
    • Members are reminded that there is no lifeguard on duty and use of the pools is at one's own risk.
  • Pickleball Courts
    • Use of the pickleball courts is limited to ten (10) members at any time.
    • Members are required to bring their own equipment. This includes balls.
  • Horseshoes, Outdoor Bocci Courts and Lawn Bowling
    • Outdoor activities are limited to groups of ten (10) people.
    • Members are required to bring their own equipment for their outdoor activity.
    • Members are required to contact the ARC Front Desk at (480) 893-2549 to reserve a time for enjoying their outdoor activity. Availability to participate in horseshoes, outdoor bocci or lawn bowling is not guaranteed without a prior reservation.

All members are asked to wear a face covering when entering the ARC Main Building. The ARC has a hand sanitizing station for use when entering and exiting the building. Additionally, the drinking fountain by the Outdoor Pool has been replaced with a hands free bottle station for members to use while at the ARC.

Starting May 19th, the ARC Staff is available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM by calling (480) 893-2549 to answer questions about the steps we are taking to provide a safe environment for its members. We will also be happy to assist you with making reservations to use the ARC pools and enjoy our outdoor activities.

Reservations will be limited to two (2) times a week per individual unless additional times become available. Additionally, members are encouraged to arrive as closely to their appointment time as possible. All members must stay home if they are ill or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Stay safe, stay healthy and I look forward to seeing you at the ARC.
