SUPPORT THE TROOPS

About SUPPORT THE TROOPS

What we do.

For a decade SUPPORT THE TROOPS has been sending care packages to our military men and women deployed or stationed around the world.

STT Pamphlet From Ahwatukee to Our Troops Overseas the pamphlet.

A more detailed description of what SUPPORT THE TROOPS does is contained in a little pamphlet pictured at the right. You can open, and read that pamphlet by clicking on its image. If you choose, you can download it or print it.

The pamphlet may be a bit odd to read online since it is designed as a tri-fold to be printed on both sides of an 8½" x 11" sheet of paper. Each page is divided into three panels. Start by reading panel 1, the cover panel, which is the one at the far right of the unfolded page. Move down to the second page to read panels 2, 3 and 4, which appear in order left to right. Move back up to the first page and finish with panels 5 and 6, which are left of the cover panel you read first. Happy reading!

Pictures from the troops.

Some of the troops that have received our packages have sent us pictures. These are some of them:

What it costs.

The items being sent cost approximately $26 per box. Shipping charges from the USPS add another $19 per box. In order to send 150 boxes twice a year means that SUPPORT THE TROOPS must raise over $13,000 annually.

How can I help?

Labor. Twice a year SUPPORT THE TROOPS fills the ARC Main Hall with goodies and shipping boxes. You can volunteer to join the assembly line to pack the boxes with various items for the troops. Before Christmas some of the items shipped will be gift wrapped on an additional day. If you would like to volunteer, take a look at the upcoming events to see when the next wrapping and packing days are. Just come on the days and times listed.

Money. If you would like to help fund the sending of care boxes to our service men and women overseas, you can:

  • Mail a check payable to "ARC SUPPORT THE TROOPS" to the Ahwatukee Recreation Center, 5001 E Cheyenne Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85044.
  • Make a donation by cash or check by leaving it for SUPPORT THE TROOPS at the Front Desk at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center.

SUPPORT THE TROOPS is a club at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center (ARC). Although ARC is a not for profit homeowner’s association, it is not a 501(c)(3) organization. Therefore donations are not tax deductible. Nevertheless, every cent of each donation goes toward filling and sending the care packages.
